The air is heavy and the breeze is light. The tree-lined horizon fades to white. The drone of distant freeway traffic tries to drown out the shrill cicadas and the steady song of crickets, interrupted by the impatient grumble of thunder. Birds call back and forth, incessantly. It is this for 30 minutes. I focus on what is, not what isn't.
